HOGS RUN WILD AGAINST GAMECOCKS
FITSNews – November 3, 2007 – Heisman Trophy candidate Darren McFadden romped for 335 rushing yards, part of a 651-yard offensive explosion the Arkansas Razorbacks detonated on a hapless South Carolina defense tonight. The Razorbacks’ 48-36 victory over South Carolina dropped the Gamecocks to 6-4 (3-4 SEC) on the season, and marks the third straight loss for a team that was 6-1 and rated No. 6 in the entire nation just three weeks ago.
A slow start once again doomed head coach Steve Spurrier‘s team, as Arkansas jumped to 21-3 lead in the first quarter. But in the end it probably wouldn’t have mattered, as McFadden and fellow tailback Felix Jones (who added 167 rushing yards of his own) had an answer every time it looked like the Gamecocks were going to make things interesting.
South Carolina now has two games left to salvage its 2007 season, which is quickly devolving into the same sort of mediocre campaign Gamecock fans have become irritatingly accustomed to over the last, say, hundred years. Of course it doesn’t get any easier next Saturday as another Heisman Trophy candidate, Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, has to be licking his chops at the chance to run against the Gamecocks’ lackluster “D.”
Seriously, somebody get us some Goody’s powders … because this is getting painful.
