Colbert Flat Rebuked By S.C. Democrats November 1, 2007

Posted by fitsnews in 2008 Presidential Primaries.

FITSNews – November 1, 2007 – A South Carolina blog is reporting that comedian Stephen Colbert‘s quest to appear on the 2008 Democratic presidential primary ballot in South Carolina has been shot down by the S.C. Democratic Party.

From this afternoon’s edition of The Palmetto Scoop, we learn:

Sources with the South Carolina Democratic Party tell us that comedian Stephen Colbert, who formally filed Thursday to have his name placed on the presidential primary ballot, has been denied. The decision came from the party’s executive committee and means that Colbert’s name will not be on the Jan. 26 Democratic primary ballot in South Carolina.

Looks like Colbert’s “right ear lean” has caught the attention of the left-leaning SCDP … although we find it highly anti-Democratic that they would deny his candidacy yet certify three candidates who are currently polling below him.

UPDATE – This story is also available on MTV News, with some choice quotes from leading S.C. Democrat Gilda Cobb-Hunter, who voted in support of Colbert’s candidacy …
