OUR MORONIC LEGISLATURE HAD SOME HELP CREATING DEFICIT
FITSNews – October 12, 2007 – Let’s face it, no collection of morons can be as consistently incompetent as the S.C. General Assembly without a lot of help from a lot of fellow morons. Which is where S.C. Board of Economic Advisors (BEA) Chairman John Rainey and State Ecommunist Bill Gillespie come in.
For two people as supremely arrogant and convinced of their own infallibility as these two assuredly are, Rainey and Gillespie (pictured above at a recent BEA meeting) couldn’t hit the broad side of barn door when calculating state revenues if their lives depended on it. They’re already off by a quarter of a billion dollars for this fiscal year, and that’s after only three months of data.
Not to cross-pollinate game show references here, but if anybody remembers “Press Your Luck” and the part of the show where everybody is frantically yelling “No Whammies, No Whammies!” well, Rainey and Gillespie are the Whammies.
Gov. Mark Sanford should have sh*t-canned Rainey a long time ago and put somebody who actually knows what they’re doing in this critical economic forecasting role. Perhaps then – and we know this is asking a lot – the new BEA chief might even appoint someone who actually believes in capitalism to serve as the state’s economist.
