TIGERS THUMPED BY HOKIES
FITSNews – October 6, 2007 – In a loss that will dump them from the Top 25 and severely jeopardize their ACC Championship hopes, the Clemson Tigers got taken to the woodshed by fifteenth-ranked Virginia Tech up in Death Valley tonight.
The Hokies scored on an interception return, a punt return and a kickoff return en route to a 31-8 halftime lead and never looked back, coasting to a 42-23 victory (Tech’s 12th win in 13 ACC road games). In addition to schooling the Tigers on special teams, the Hokies’ defense also held the Tigers’ vaunted running back combination of James Davis and C.J. Spiller to a combined 12 yards on 12 carries.
We’re not trying to be rude or anything, but this is pretty much what happens when a bunch of dumbass redneck farmers decide to dress up in purple, people. Seriously … we get the “redneck connection” to the color orange (i.e. Tennessee), but purple? Cartoon dinosaurs wear purple, not tigers. And certainly not redneck farmers who stole their mascot from Auburn to begin with.
Anyway, Clemson gets this coming Saturday off before the Central Michigan Chippewas head to Memorial Stadium on October 20. Perhaps by then the Tigers will have learned to leave the Barney suits in the locker room. Oh, and play special teams.
