16-12 UPSET SNAPS FIVE-YEAR SKID AGAINST DAWGS
FITSNews – September 8, 2007 – South Carolina upset 11th-ranked Georgia 16-12 in Athens tonight, snapping a five game losing streak against the hated Bulldogs and moving the Gamecocks to 2-0 on the young season. It wasn’t the prettiest thing in the world (meaning it wasn’t Jessica Alba), and as usual Carolina made its loyal fans sweat it out to the next-to-last play of the game.
In other college football news, Michigan’s “Stairway to Heaven Curse” lives on as the Wolverines got trounced in the Big House by Oregon just one week after becoming the first ranked team ever to lose to a Division I-AA opponent. Michigan hasn’t won since its marching band inexplicably violated the “No Stairway” rule during the halftime show at the Rose Bowl last season. Consequences, people. Consequences.
Back to the Gamecocks, though. Boy is it ever fun when we beat Georgia because let’s be honest, they’re complete and total assholes. Their players are assholes, their coaches are assholes and their fans are MAJOR assholes. It’s also a refreshing change to have a USC head coach who says “we could have played better” moments after his squad knocked off the No. 11 team in the country on their home field. Steve Spurrier is right, they could’ve played better, but expect to see South Carolina in the AP Top 25 this coming week anyway …
