THE MORE MUSEUMS YOU BUILD TO ‘EM …

FITSNews – April 25, 2007 – When we first broke the news about the state budget including $950,000 for a green bean museum, we were certain the white hot glare of our raw, unbridled truth would be more than enough to cause legislators to think twice about this vegetable-doggle. Then someone reminded us FITSNews is just a blog. And that if they really wanted to hear from an asshole, they’d fart.

Anyway, funding for the National Bean Market Museum was approved by the full Senate yesterday, marking a huge victory for green bean museum lovers everywhere.

Truth be told, we’re starting to warm up to the whole green bean museum idea. How come? Well, rumor has it part of the $950,000 will help pay for a new “Cannin’ Kitchen” exhibit featuring State Sen. Hugh Leatherman dressing up as Mrs. Doubtfire and teaching South Carolina school kids how to can green beans like it was their job. Which isn’t a bad idea seeing as in a few years it will be their job.

Best quote of yesterday was when Yancey McGill said that the Bean Market was an “international museum” that would greatly contribute to the tourism industry of Lake City. This is a great example as to why we need to vote out a bunch of the Good Ole Boys who have been in there awhile.

Are you kidding? Giving wrong directions to tourists traveling I-95 would do more good for tourism in Lake City than this.

But what I’d like to know is when the tourists arrive, what the heck will they sell them? Crack? Plastic products from the Nan Ya plant?

I have a message to all you closed-minded people from a pair of experts….. This museum will show the history and heritage of our people – a history that has neevr been told, and is long overdue..Through diversity, we show the true rainbow that is America.

The Jolly Green Giant and Sprout.
