FIRST CANINE TO SEEK S.C. STATEWIDE OFFICE ABANDONS BID

FITSNews – January 30, 2007 – Just two months after announcing his candidacy, Democrat Todd L. Tomlinson (pictured above) has officially withdrawn from the 2010 Secretary of State’s race. Tomlinson’s owner, a State House lobbyist who declined to be identified, said the nine-month old puppy was not quite ready for the rigorous demands of such an essential office.

“There were some chewing issues that we just weren’t able to resolve,” Tomlinson’s owner told FITSNews Tuesday afternoon.

Tomlinson’s consulting firm, Viewpolitik LLC, issued the following statement:

“We are saddened and disappointed by Todd’s decision not to run but we respect it. And let’s face it, at the end of the day, chasing squirrels in the back yard, sleeping on the sofa and licking yourself in inappropriate places is a lot more important than anything the S.C. Secretary of State does.”

VP founder Sic Willie said he was interviewing prospective replacement candidates in the primates section of Columbia’s Riverbanks Zoo this week.
